High School Awards are offered to students entering their first year of post-secondary studies who will be admitted to the U of C on the basis of their high school grades. High School Awards include both scholarships and bursaries.
1. Eligibility:
Generally, recipients of these awards must have achieved above average grades in five appropriate 20-level courses (grade 11) or equivalent for non-Alberta students and in some cases must demonstrate financial need. Students must be entering a Fall Term at the University of Calgary. Students entering the Bachelor of Health Sciences program in the Faculty of Medicine are eligible for High School Awards. Students entering or continuing in the Bachelor of Education (Master of Teaching Program) are not eligible for High School Awards.
2. Requirements:
The payment of monetary awards, with the exception of certain prizes and graduating scholarships, is contingent upon the student maintaining full-time status in the immediate Fall and Winter terms. Unless otherwise stated in the conditions, the recipient must be in actual full-time attendance at the University of Calgary before receiving the awards. Payment of tuition and fees is the first charge against such awards. If the value of an award is stated as "tuition and fees", it is understood not to include differential fees. Supplemental, deferred and special deferred examinations or term work may affect eligibility for certain awards.
3. Application:
The High School Awards Online Application is available in the Student Center through the myUofC portal. Students must apply for admission prior to applying for High School Awards as they will require a U of C student ID number to access the online application.
