The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) is a taxable cash grant of $1,000 per year, up to a maximum of $2,000 per person, available to registered apprentices once they have successfully completed their first or second year/level (or equivalent) of an apprenticeship program in one of the Red Seal trades.
Is there a deadline to apply?
Service Canada must receive your application on or before June 30th of the calendar year following the date you progressed in your apprenticeship program.
Once you have submitted your on-line application, you are required to submit your supporting documents to Service Canada via mail or in person. You must ensure the postmark* date, or the date received and date stamped at a Service Canada Centre is on or before June 30th of the calendar year following the calendar year in which you completed your year/level/block of apprenticeship.
If you are using a paper application, you can bring your application and supporting documents to a Service Canada Centre to have them date-stamped, or you can mail your application and documents but be sure they are postmarked* on or before June 30th of the calendar year following the calendar year in which you completed the year/level/block.
