This award was established in 2012 in memory of Dustin Peers by his family and friends. The purpose of the award is to assist Calgary students graduating from Central Memorial High School and other Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) schools in pursuing studies in visual arts and arts-related careers.

Eligibility

Open to students registered in the Centre for Performing & Visual Arts at Central

Memorial High and other CBE and CCSD schools who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must have demonstrated artistic ability and a desire to develop these skills. Consideration may also be given to students demonstrating financial need.

Applicants must submit a sample of their visual arts portfolio consisting of a minimum of five (5) pieces, at least one of which was created outside of their academic requirements. Applicants must also submit an essay/statement of approximately 500 words demonstrating their passion for the arts, their artistic achievements and their future goals.

Students with financial need should provide a separate “statement of financial need” explaining their financial situation/circumstances.

Selection of the successful recipient will be based on the following in the order of priority: academic GPA in grade 12 and Alberta Education High School Fine Arts Credits, portfolio/artwork, essay/ statement, with consideration being given to financial need.
