Belcourt Brosseau Métis Awards (BBMAs) support Métis Albertans with scholarships up to $10,000 each year for post-secondary education.

THE BBMAS WERE ESTABLISHED IN 2001 by the directors of the Canative Housing Corporation, Orval Belcourt, Dr. Herb Belcourt, and Georges Brosseau QC. Their vision was to help Métis Albertans realize self-sufficiency through post-secondary education and skills development.

Over the past twenty years the Belcourt Brosseau Métis Awards have provided more than $12 million to approximately 3900 Métis students studying at institutions across Alberta. These awards are one of the largest non-governmental sources of student funding for Métis students in Canada.

Are you a Métis student from Alberta? The BBMAs can support you by covering between $1,000 and $10,000 of your tuition and fees.

Am I eligible for the BBMA Awards?

Membership with the Otipemisiwak Métis Government or a Métis Settlement (Note: if you are in process of receiving citizenship or membership you will need to upload a letter saying you have applied for it)

Alberta Residence and Canadian Citizenship

Studying in an eligible program at an eligible post-secondary.
