Overview
The High School Apprenticeship Scholarship recognizes Alberta high school students who complete the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) or a Career and Technology Studies (CTS) apprenticeship pathway. It is intended to encourage more students to pursue trades education and to support entry into well‑paying, stable careers that address future labour market needs. How to apply
No formal application is required for this scholarship. Eligible students must consent to be considered and maintain an up‑to‑date MyTradesecrets profile, including mailing address. Selection is automatic from consenting, eligible candidates and recipients are notified annually. If you meet the criteria and have given consent, the program will consider you for an award without a separate submission.
Application Timeline: Recipients who meet the requirements are notified by November 1 of each year; students should ensure consent is recorded and profile information is current before selection.

Eligibility
Eligibility is determined by citizenship/residency status, Alberta residency as recorded in MyTradesecrets, high school diploma completion timing, apprenticeship registration and prior award history. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons; international visa students are not eligible. Candidates must complete the requirements for a high school diploma in June of their graduating year and must be registered as apprentices with qualifying RAP or CTS pathway participation. Previous RAP/CTS Scholarship recipients are not eligible for repeat awards.
Eligibility: General requirements include citizenship/permanent resident/protected person status, Alberta residency per MyTradesecrets, June completion of a high school diploma, apprenticeship registration with RAP credits or successful completion of a CTS apprenticeship pathway, and no prior receipt of the RAP/CTS Scholarship.

Award value
There are two scholarship amounts available under the program: a base High School Apprenticeship Scholarship and the Bright Futures enhancement. The standard scholarship award is $1,000 for students meeting the general eligibility and apprenticeship criteria. The Bright Futures award is $2,000 and requires that the applicant both be registered in RAP with RAP credits and have successfully completed a CTS apprenticeship pathway at an Alberta high school. Award disbursement follows confirmation of eligibility and recipient notification.
Award Value: High School Apprenticeship Scholarship — $1,000; High School Apprenticeship Scholarship (Bright Futures) — $2,000 for students meeting the combined RAP and CTS pathway requirement.
