What you need to get in to the Biomedical Engineering Technology at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology?
All applicants require the following prerequisite courses or an equivalent: English 30-1 or 30-2; One of Physics 30, Chemistry 30 or Science 30; Math 30 (Pure) or successful completion of Transitional Mathematics 101 or Algebra 35 (with a grade of 65%). Applicants having other math courses, for example, the previous Alberta Learning designations of Math 30 and Math 33, will be considered on an individual basis by the registrar. Math updating or upgrading may be required. Additional Requirements: An interest in, and an aptitude for, physics is a definite asset. Basic computer and keyboarding skills are also an asset. Students must receive a vaccination for hepatitis B and tetanus before starting Year 2. NAIT Health Services will provide this service for a fee. Students must successfully complete all Semester 1, Semester 2 and Semester 3 courses before enrolling in BET460 and BET400 in Semester 4 of the program. These are associated courses that require direct industry involvement. Knowledge of all courses taught in the first three semesters are vital to success in Semester 4. A Career Investigation is required as part of the application and selection process for the Biomedical Engineering Technology program. The standard format for the Career Investigation is acceptable. Applicants should research program statistics at the Student Recruitment office. An explanation of why the applicant wants to enter this particular industry will help confirm whether their academic goals will be fulfilled after completing their education and training. Graduates of nationally accredited and/or recognized technology diploma program, with a minimum GPA of 2.3, will be eligible to enter years 3 and 4 of the NAIT Bachelor of Technology in Technology Management program on a competitive basis. http://www.nait.ca/program_home_14066.htm Email Address: biomedical@nait.ca
