A high-school diploma is not required. Applicants must have a minimum combined average of 68% in grade 12 English (30-1, 30-2, 30 or 33) AND Mathematics (Pure, Applied, 30 or 33). As this program is generally over-subscribed, student selection is competitive and is based on criteria that may include academic achievement beyond the minimum stated prerequisites. A Career Investigation is also required. Applications are accepted and processed on an on-going basis beginning in October. Early applications are recommended as the program may be filled prior to the deadline for application. Because of the nature of the work, photographers utilize many dimensions of photography, art, science, communications and human relations. Students are therefore encouraged to take high school subjects such as art, design, physics, chemistry, communications and psychology as well as computer courses in addition to the required English and Mathematics courses. The basic prerequisites are the minimum requirements for entry into the Photographic Technology program. Admission is competitive and is based on high school marks, qualifications over and above the minimum prerequisites, any work experience and evidence, as demonstrated in a Career Investigation, of the applicant's familiarity with the career field.
