What you need to get in to the Dental Hygiene at University of Alberta?
There is no entry directly from high school. Dental Hygiene Diploma: One year B.Sc. required (30 credits). 24 credits must be taken during one Fall/Winter. It is recommended that students have the following Grade 12 subjects in order to complete the prerequisites: English Language Arts 30-1, Pure Mathematics 30, Biology 30, and Chemistry 30. Prerequisites consist of courses in English, Chemistry (Inorganic and Organic), Biology, Sociology, Psychology, and Statistics. Personal interview required and applicants must meet the spoken English requirement. Dental and Medical examination required for accepted applicants. In order to be competitive, applicants should strive for a GPA of 3.0. Students with a GPA of less than 2.7 will not be considered for admission. Students currently enrolled in the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Diploma program have the opportunity to complete the B.Sc. (Dental Hygiene Specialization) if they successfully complete the three-year diploma program with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Graduates of the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Diploma program or dental hygiene graduates of other accredited Canadian or international dental hygiene programs of two years in length must have completed an additional 30 credits, including courses in English, Psychology, Sociology, and Statistics.
