What you need to get in to the Forestry Crew Worker at Portage College?
Forestry Crew Worker training is a 14 week program designed to prepare students in forestry related practical skills training for the forestry industry (private sector or government). Training areas consist of forestry basics in the areas of; mapping, forest protection, tree planting, stand tending, safety, fire suppression, field measurements, timber harvesting and outdoor skills. The program provides a significant base for advancement to technical and professional training. The program consists of a variety of learning activities using current industry standards and recommended best practices. The program stays current through close liaison with industry and government. After completing this training, learners have the choice of direct entry to employment or continuing their studies into Forest Technician, if they meet current prerequisites. Minimum Grade 9 or equivalent. Physically able to do all facets of forestry work tasks.
