What you need to get in to the Emergency Medical Technology - Paramedic at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology?
Students must have successfully completed:: English 30-1 (English 30) or English 30-2 (English 33), Biology 30, Chemistry 30 and Math 10-1 (Applied) or Math 10-2 ( Pure) or a document that reflects the successful completion of a NAIT Pre-Technology program. In lieu of the existing Chemistry 30 prerequisite, Chemistry 20 and a university-level sociology or psychology course or related field experience will be accepted. Students must also submit a(n): EMT Certificate (or equivalent) and an official transcript; current EMT Registration card from the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP); Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card, dated within one year of the start date of NAIT EMT-Paramedic classes; International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PhTLS) or equivalent, dated within the previous three years of the start date of NAIT EMT-Paramedic classes; valid Alberta Class 1, 2 or 4 driver's license or equivalent; Emergency Medical Services Driving Certificate from a recognized EMS Defensive Driving program is required. Note: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Pediatric Basic Trauma Life Support (PedBTLS) is an asset. Many fire departments and ambulance services require physical performance testing as a condition of employment. Students in this program must have basic computer literacy, which includes basic word processing, spreadsheets, internet and e-mail. International Applicants: As English is the language of instruction in all programs at NAIT, you must have an adequate knowledge of written and spoken English as a prerequisite for admission. Regardless of country of origin or citizenship status, you must demonstrate English-language proficiency prior to being accepted. Foreign credentials must be evaluated by the International Qualification Assessment Services branch of Alberta Employment and Immigration. Please call IQAS at 780.427.2655 for more information.
