What you need to get in to the Bachelor of Applied Technology Petroleum Engineering at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology?
A two-year SAIT diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or similar engineering technology, with a grade point average of 2.5 or better is the normal entrance requirement. University graduates holding relevant science (mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology, or geophysics) or engineering degrees are accepted; but additional courses are usually required before starting the programs. Applicants with other qualifications will be considered upon submission of certified background information. Students should contact the Coordinator at (403) 210-4596 for advice or direction. A transcript of marks for all post-secondary courses or programs is required for all applicants. Upon submission of a transcript of marks and a course description, consideration will be given to granting credit for university or college level courses or work experience already completed and not used to earn another academic qualification. Where credit is not granted, some exemptions from core BAPET courses may be granted for equivalent courses taken at other institutions. All successful applicants must meet SAIT's requirement of Grade 12 English or equivalent. Based on the Coordinator's advice, applicants may meet this requirement by passing a suitable course in the program which contains an adequate test of English in written and presentation form.
