What you need to get in to the Dental Assisting at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology?
An Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent with an overall average of 60% in the following courses or their equivalents: English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2; Biology 30; Chemistry 30; and either Pure Math 30 or Math 31 or Applied Math 30. Post secondary courses may be equivalent to the above. Please see Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition. English Proficiency: English is the language of instruction in all programs at SAIT and the primary language of most workplaces in Alberta. Prior to admission to this program, all applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language in one of the following ways: 1. Successful completion of the named prerequisite English course or equivalent, PLUS at least three years of formal full-time study at an English designated secondary school or post-secondary institution in an English speaking country which SAIT recognizes as English-language proficiency exempt. 2. Proof on application of a minimum score of 8 in Canadian Language Benchmarks Assessment (CLBA) in all categories. The CLBA measures English proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Further information about the CLBA may be obtained at www.language.ca. Due to restrictions within the practicum component of this program, international applications will not be accepted. This program receives more applications than we have seats. Applications received by the end of February are academically ranked and short-listed. Short-listed candidates will be sent a selection package and are required to spend a minimum of 14 hours observing in a dental office. The usual number of seats available is 48. Successful candidates must sign a practicum agreement contract prior to final acceptance.
