What you need to get in to the Medical Laboratory Technology at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology?
Applicants must have: 60% or better in Biology 30, Chemistry 30, English Language Arts 30-1 and Math 30-1 (Pure). Math 30-2 (Applied) combined with one of the following courses will be accepted in lieu of Math 30-1: Transitional Mathematics 101, or Algebra 35 with a competency level of 65%. Five or more credits of post-secondary Human Anatomy and Physiology or Human Physiology completed within the last 5 years with a final grade of 60% or greater. The NAIT Continuing Education Course that meets this pre-requisite requirement is HSC 103 Anatomy & Physiology (http://www.nait.ca/course_HSC103.asp). One credit of post-secondary Medical Terminology completed within the last 5 years with a final grade of 60% or greater or completion of NAIT's Medical Terminology challenge examination with a minimum 60% pass. There are four options through NAIT Continuing Education that would meet this pre-requisite requirement: HSC104 -Medical Terminology, HRT10-Medical Terminology, ML612, ML613 and ML614 Medical Terminology Series of three courses, HSC104C-Medical Terminology Challenge Exam. Foreign credentials must be evaluated by the International Qualification Assessment Services branch of Alberta Employment and Immigration (please call the IQAS office at 780.427.2655 for more information). If you are not meeting the requirements to enter the program of your choice consider the academic upgrading options offered at NAIT. English Language Requirements: As English is the language of instruction in all programs at NAIT, you must have an adequate knowledge of written and spoken English as a prerequisite for admission. Regardless of your country of origin or citizenship status, you must demonstrate English-language proficiency prior to being accepted. Students in this program must have basic computer literacy, which includes basic word processing, spreadsheets, Internet and e-mail.
